Hero

The CyberSisters topic this week was to tell a little about your hero or your inspiration. It is probably no suprise to most of you that my hero is my younger cousin, Kristin. She is a cancer survivor. Her testimony is powerful and will bring chills all over your body! I will never forget the day she was diagnosed. She cried for quite a while (what 8 year old wouldn't have!), but then she stopped and told her parents it would be okay because she had the best doctors in the world and God would take care of her. Talk about FAITH!! When I think of Kristin, I think of this passage fromthe bible, and am reminded of the kind of faith I should have...

2He called a little child and had him stand among them. 3And he said: "I tell you the truth, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. 4Therefore, whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. Matthew 18:2 - 4
Thank you Kristinl, for your boldness and your faith! You are such an amazing person!!

Southland Homecoming and 11 Month Birthday

As promised in the previous post, here are pictures from Southland's homecoming game last night. The Eagles beat the Lazbuddie Longhorns 59 - 19. The first few pictures are of my cousin, Kelcee. She is an 8th Grader and the Jr. High got to cheer at the Varsity game last night, since it was Homecoming. Check out her toe touch in the 3rd picture...OUCH!!

Here are some pictures of Taylor in the cute shirt Marissa made her (see previous post).
Taylor and Jadyn enjoying the game in their matching shirts
How Sweet!
Taylor cheering for the Eagles!

Taylor was 11 months old last Sunday (the 16th). YIKES!! I can't believe it! She also took her first step on Tuesday. It's SO cool!!! New things she likes to do...
1) Sing "This Little Light of Mine" - she holds up her finger and goes "La La La La"
2) Walk behind her push toy. She will go forever if we let her!
3) Eat anything we are eating. She loves table food.
4) Sit in her chair and "read" a book

Taylor's Shirt

Jadyn's mommy made Taylor this super-cute shirt for her to wear to the football game tonight! I love it!!! She made a matching one for Jadyn also (Jadyn is one of the girls I keep). I will post more pics from the game tonight, but couldn't wait to share this adorable shirt!

Addyson Sofia

Today, I took Addyson's one year pictures(I hope I spelled her name right). I use to work with this little cutie's Mommy at United Pharmacy. Addyson is extremely good natured and easy going. She has such a precious smile, as you will see! My camera could not get enough of her cute little face. Addyson is also really tall! Her legs are so long and skinny. What a sweet little girl! I got a bit carried away on my favorites! You can click here to see the rest of her pictures. They should be ready soon!

When she arrived, she was ready to cheer on the Raiders! What a cute cheerleader.

She had never eaten cake, or many other sweets for that matter, until today. This is the first shot out of my camera. You can tell, she is a little unsure of what to do...it didn't take her long to figure it out, though!

I just LOVE baby fingers and toes!!

We finished the afternoon at Tech (her Mommy's Alma Mater). I love her cute dress!

Hollywood Here I Come

Taylor was playing in my sunglasses yesterday and I just had to get the camera out. Who couldn't resist taking pictures of this cutie?! She's so silly!

8 Things

I was tagged by my friend Kristin to list 8 things about myself that you may not know. For those of you that know me, I am a pretty open person and you probably know most everything about me. :-) I've really thought hard and here is what I came up with...

1) I think I posted this before, but thanks to Terry Newton (my preacher growing up) I can say the entire books of the Bible in one breath. I hadn't actually tried this recently until the other day, but I've still got the skills!

2) I hate going ANYWHERE without make-up on. I keep kids in my home, but almost always have make-up on by the time the first child gets here (even if it's at 6:15 am). I did go to Wal-Mart the other day without make-up on...shame on me!

3) Most NORMAL people chew on their fingernails. I, however, chew on the skin around my fingernails. I know, it's totally disgusting!

4) I absolutely hate being scared. Dustin thinks it is the funniest thing to scare me really good! He loves to turn the light out at night and wait to get into bed so that I freak out wondering where he is. He'll jump at me out of nowhere...ugh! It makes me so mad!!!!

5) Most of you probably know this, but I am SUPER competitive. Whether I am playing basketball or some other sport, or even a card or board game, I HATE to lose! It took lots of relaxing for me to play tennis with Dustin and just have a good time and not worry about winning.

6) I love to be the hostess. I love getting my house ready for a party, cooking a good meal, and having friends over. I don't know why, it's just one of my favorite things! I also love to try new foods that I've never made. I made my first lemon meringue pie for my dad's b-day a couple of weeks ago, and I must say, it was really yummy!

7) I competed in power tumbling for about 5 years growing up. During that time I went to many state meets, competed in 2 Nationals meets in Louisiana and Illinois, and qualified for the World meet in Germany. I was not able to go to Germany, but qualifying for it was pretty cool! I could flip all over the place. I was best at trampoline, but enjoyed floor and double mini also!

8) I have a teflon button in my knee. When I was a Soph in high school I tore my ACL playing basketball. I tore mine off the bone (instead of in half like most people do), so the doctor reattached my ACL instead of reconstructing it. He used a teflon button to attach it with in the shape of a heart.

I tag the following people to complete this...
Amy
April
Ashley
Libby
Lindsay
Kristin F.

7-11 Feet

I haven't really put shoes on Taylor all summer. I see no point, really. I took her to the gym with me the other day and she played in the nursery while I worked out. I picked her up and her bare feet looked like they'd been walking around 7-11! YUCK! Now that she's mobile, I guess it's time to start putting shoes on her when we go places. I had forgotten that I got these cute tennis shoes at a garage sale when I was pregnant. She modeled them for me yesterday!

New Dress

Taylor's Great-Granny and Great-Grandad bought her this beautiful dress that she wore to church on Sunday. It's 18 months, and I didn't think it would fit until next spring, but I tried it on her and guess what...it fit! I should've known with our little chunky beef! Her sweet little personality is really showing through in these pictures! She is such a cheese-ball...she loves the camera (as if she had a choice)!

This is such her daddy's smile!
She loves her rocking chair!
I told you she was a cheese-ball! Love that smile!!!
Not the best pic, but I wanted to show off the back of this dress. Isn't it pretty?!

Taylor's 10 month pictures

I posted a while back that Taylor had turned 10 months old (Aug 16). I finally got around to taking some pictures of her at Maxey Park last weekend. The cute shirt she has on is from her Aunt Staci (we love it Staci, thanks!).

In other news, we had a fun experience this morning...Taylor pooped in the bathtub. I have read about a similar incident on my friend Amy's blog. I think I had the same reaction she did. I could not stop gagging. I can change diapers all day and even wipe toddlers bottoms after they poop in the potty, but in the bath tub...GROSS! Dustin put on gloves and fished the poop out, while Taylor and I waited in the other room. I'm so glad he was here!

Dustin and I have a much needed date night tonight. Thanks Gammy for keeping Taylor. I am so looking forward to it! Happy Labor Day weekend to everyone. Hope you enjoy your time off!
